Therapeutic exercise is an important part of treatment given here at Costa Vista Chiropractic. Therapeutic exercise consists of bodily movement prescribed to correct an impairment, improve musculoskeletal function, or maintain a state of well-being. It may vary from highly selected activities restricted to specific muscles or parts of the body. They can be general and vigorous activities that return a patient to the peak of physical condition. Therapeutic exercise seeks to accomplish the following goals:
Spinal manipulation—sometimes called “spinal manipulative therapy” or "an adjustment"—is practiced by health care professionals such as chiropractors, osteopathic physicians, naturopathic physicians, physical therapists, and some medical doctors. Licensed practitioners perform spinal manipulations using their hands or a device to apply a controlled force to a joint of the spine. The amount of force applied depends on the form of manipulation used. The most common goals of spinal manipulation are to reduce muscle tension, relieve pain, restore natural movement, improve physical function, and break up scar tissue and adhesions.
